Infrared filter that can pass only 12.3 μm of wavelength infrared can be prepared by using a manganese oxide powder (Fig. 1). The FT-IR spectra is shown as Fig. 2.

It is expected that the filter function appears in other materials such as paint, glass and plastic, by mixing the manganese oxide powder to other materials.
